There's a lad here is quite fond of it.

Has all his bits covered in it.

    I'm sure he'll be along shortly..........:pac:

    As said www.cleancar.ie

Myself and afew of the other lads have used it abit, it's amazing stuff. Had it on my wheels for over a month now and it's holding up well. You would need either a good well ventelated shed or a full dry day to put on 4-5 coats though

I'm not sure if that's an appropriate use of it...

I did mine on a lawn while trying to deal with builders and a bonkers boxador puppy :(

Wasn't too bothered though as wheels it went on are on the way out after christmas anyway as one is buckled

Yeah good few people here, myself included have used it.

Here is one of my BMW Style 32 wheels coated with 3 layers of black Plastidip with about 3 light coats of Plastidip Gold Metaliser
    A76C1A0C-CE0F-437E-8473-A9A1F150550F-13504-0000153433C1A8E7.jpg

Gives is a bronze look (thats not a yellow lighting effect on the wheel) that hard to photograph but the Silver and Gold Metalisers are excellent!

Here is is in vanilla Black Plastidip:

All can just be peeled off if you tire of the colour/effect.

Depends on wheel size, i did 5 coats on just the face of 4 19 inch 5 spokes with 3 cans, i would say 5 or so cans for front+back. 2 first coats being the lightest.

Something to watch out for is between coats have a rag with white spirits or something to clean the nozzle on the can as it clogs up after about 30 minutes and can lead to clumping and cursing ans the like. My main problem was small insects and flies kamikazing on my wheels between coats :pac:

Looks sweet... How does the metalisers work and are they available from the above mention company?

Lots of Youtube videos of the Metalisers but basically dust it over the area, like spraying Lacquer. Dont think Cleancar do the Metalisers yet, email them as request it! :)
One coat gives it a 3 dimensional depth, 2 coats a strong hue, then progressively more Gold or Silver.

    I bought mine from Plastidip.co.uk.
One word of warning if you buy the Tin can of Plastidip with the aim of spraying it with a compressor gun etc, I ruined three guns. I then found out you need a HVLP gun to spray it. I bought an electric one (something 3500) in Argo's which is actually the recommended sprayer (even though I have an Air Compressor) according to the Web.

    The Aerosol's are fine though.

Did you use it straight from the tin or did it need to be thinned first? If so what kind of ratio did you use?

It definitely wont spray straight from the tin.
I havent tried it with the HVLP (electric in this case) spray gun yet, but on my regular Air Compressor guns I tried 20%, 50% and even 70% thinning. It would kinda spray with 70% thinner, but it was way too watered down to be effective.

Afaik the instructions call for 30 to 50% and a HVLP gun.

Cleancar also sell the mini "plug in" compressed air canisters now that allow easy spraying of bulk bought Plastidip, these are new and I have tried them, but an option for anyone buying it in the Tins but without spray equipment.

    Is it this one Matt?;

Has anyone tried painting a full car with this, seen a video on youtube showing it done, but id like to see if anyone here has done it.

I saw a car yesterday that was full plastidip (could have been wrapped but it looked more like dip) and tbh it looked pretty good.

You need the sprayer linked above to do this. A normal air compressor sprayer wont work, needs to be HVLP.

Seen it over in doughiska. I thought is was a matt black wrap from a distance but it had 'plastidip your car' and a phone number on the back window. Wouldn't be for me but it looked well and alot better than a wrap does close up.

I've used it to spray a set of wheels and also my ride-on mower, the cutting carriage was rusty. I ha seen the YouTube clips and was dying to try it. I got the aerosol from Cleancar and it worked out brilliantly. As Supergurrier said above the nozzle clogs easily though.

For my next project I would like to buy a larger quantity and use a spray gun so if anyone does this please update this thread !
