    Looking for some help
    Automatic
    2006
    Diesel 2.8 Grand Voyager
Having problem with car, had service day after service gearbox failed on motorway
Brought to dealer apparently 3rd gear gone and it requires reconditioning of gearbox

Options given were reconditioning 2,900 or 4,000 for a new one

    Any other ideas here

Is that the same gearbox the ranger rover diesel uses ?

Relation had a similar figure quoted on her's, scary stuff

Why such a small difference between reconditioned and a new one?

Not sure got another quote very similar

Reconditioning they said was putting new parts into the physical box, am not an expert and maybe they are oversimplifying it but v expensive

Obviously it's out if warranty if you have to pay for it but how old? If more than 07, looks like a replacement car might be had for 7k or so.
