The Movie Show... RTE

Well, what did everyone think of that?

I expected Claudia Winkelman inspired high jinks like the BBC have but instead had what seemed to be Off the Rails meets Film 2012.

Nordy Eoghan, Jesus they seem so happy with him, that a cup bearing his name, Nordy Eoghan is prominently placed on the table. I get it...he is from the north.

And at least a third of the show is spent on the Ross Noble vehicle Stitches which they cant agree on, as to if its good or bad.

I was suprised there was no mention of Skyfall, considering the week this went to air on but i guess it takes so long to edit The Movie Show into something coherent, we might see its review when the next Bond film rolls along.

It does feek like I am being harsh until i remember that Rte have a record in having good movie review shows with the likes of Dave Fanning.

Maybe The Movie Show is like that awful first version of Republic of Telly with Neil Delamere..(remember him?) that was eventually re booted.

Cant wait till the reboot of The Movie Show comes along.

Good post, but did you miss the start of the show? The first 6 or 7 minutes was all Skyfall. Interview with Daniel Craig and Bond girl and a quick review.

Are RTE incapable of coming up with an original title?
    "The Movie Show"
    "The Saturday Night Show"
    "The Craig Doyle Show"
    "The Big Fat Breakfast Show"
    "The Big Money Game"

I saw the word gossip in the synopsis so decided not to bother with it

I really really hate Mairead Farrell. Shes like the town bike forever on the prowl. Absolutely hate the woman!

The show is a typical RTE produced formatting mess!

It opens with 2 presenters who's only job is too introduce each segment. Then you have a reviewer, who (badly) interviews stars and is then interviewed (badly) by the presenters on what he thought of the film.
Q1: So whats the film about?
    Q2: Filler Question
    Q3: Is it any good?
Then there's a seperate "reporter girl" who interviews another actor (awkwardly) before going back to the reviewer who is again interviewed by the presenters.

There's so much jumping around how many films do they review in the 30 mins?? 2. I would like it to be simplier, 1-2 presenters who can interview, review and present the show and shovel out 5-6 movie reviews in one show and maybe a DVDs of the week slot etc..

typical RTE gash, hire people with no interest in the thing they're presenting a show on, fill it with fluff, appeal to people with no interest in the programs main topic, its Expose with movies.

Film 2012 recently returned and have to say Claudia & Danny do a top job. Great chemistry and both know their stuff.
But RTEs the movie show..........jesus mary and joseph, can rte do anything right? Its an obvious attempt to copy film 2012s format but it fails big time. One lad seems to know his stuff, but Maired Farrell is shocking. She obviously hasnt got a clue about films and the art of film making. They really needed to cast someone who knows what their talking about and she really doesnt. I cant see this one going the distance.

Don't mind Mairead Farrell usually but she is completely and utterly unsuited to this show. Before it aired she said in the papers that she was there representing the "casual" film goer and then said that she doesn't like watching thrillers or horrors. Two very important film genres. On twitter every week she says she can't watch Love/Hate.

How did RTE think she was in any way suitable for this? Surely even a mild interest in film should be required?
