    heylo lads and lassies,

opinions on new laptop purchase please. (my xps m1330 is no more, time for replacment)

Looks like you get alot of bang for buck with these two Acer models below,

Bigger, more powerful V3 for 546.94

Teensy bit lesser performance, but more compact V5 for 497.94

both to me look like pretty sensible purchases,

does anyone have either? comments about build, performance, customer service?

any better alternatives in price range?

For £50 more you'll get 2 GB RAM and a bigger hard disk drive. Is it worth it? It depends. If you want just more RAM, you can easily swap the 2 GB module for a 4 GB module (less than 20 Yoyos).

Play around with the Genesis IV configurator, for the pretty much the same money, you'll get a Core i5 3210M w GT 640M or a Core i7 3630M w Intel HD 4000.

well just to follow up and anser the question that i posed myself (in case anyone searches for this later on), the V3 is a rocket ship! really nice solid feel of a laptop, great keyboard, screen is a little bit shiney, but still quite good. Performance wise it's a beast. Coupled with windows 8, every keystroke, click, and app launch is instant.

    fingerprint magnet though.
