Quick questions for you boardsies...and hoping for a quick reply as picking up my car at 5.00:( Clutch went on nissan qashqai yesterday and car was bought 7 months ago (07) and is 1 month over warranty. Same garage that i purchased it from done first service last week and clutch goes yesterday  they have agreed to drop the full fee for new clutch from 600 to 300 but just wondering do i have any other recourse???

None really. It's out of warranty so it was good of them to even give you the discount.

    In my opinion, no!

Your car is 5 years old and you got a 6 month warranty which is expired but the garage are fitting the new clutch for just the price of parts which is a reasonable gesture in my opinion.

A clutch is a wearing part and theoretically at least, you could burn out the clutch of a brand new car in a day!! I don't think that a replacement clutch would be an easy item to get covered under warranty in any case.

I'm a big fan of quoting the great warranty law we have in Ireland, normally to great criticism on this forum when applying it to motors bought off dealers.

But that's a pretty good deal from the garage. A clutch is a consumable part and it could have gone at any point. I'd take it and be happy about it.
