I ran two cables, one from my dish and the other from the aerial , and then used a combiner and two way splitter and connected to my grundig sky box, but I am getting no signal from either RTE or Soarsat? any suggestions

You're not going to get Saorsat or Saorview on a Sky box. What kind of combiner & 2 way splitter did you use?

I'm going to assume you have a saorview box / saorview telly.

Try disconnecting the LNB and SKY box so you are using the combiner / splitter only for RTE - if this works repeat by just connecting the satellite stuff

You also need to pay attention to which way the power pass is set up, most TV aerials will short circuit the satellite power , which is not a good thing.

Do you have a mast head amp ? ( unlikely )

And as Peter was suggesting you can't use any old splitter / combiner
