Jobbridge - Leave one internship for another?

    Hi Everyone,

In a bit of a dilemma. I am currently on internship with a local authority doing the standard 9am-5pm. I have been on this internship since mid July so its about 15-16weeks. Its grand experience, dealing with high level stakeholders etc but there is absolutely NO CHANCE of being kept on once the 9months is up.

This morning (as I do every morning) as I was thralling through all the job sites including the Jobbridge page I noticed an internship that really really appeals to me. It is with a large company in my area, a company which I am constantly trying to get my foot in the door. The job would also suit my education background. This company is constantly hiring people and I think there would be a high chance of getting kept on if the internship was successful.

My problem - obviously I am on internship now, can I just abandon it and start another if I was successful getting the internship in the large company? Does anyone know the rules and regulations?

Its very disheartening working in a place where you know your only a short term fixture in the organisation and there is no chance of being kept on full time/part-time/contract -- anything at all with money!!!! And I know there is no guarantee of getting full time jobs with these internships but once your in it and actively participating it is incredibly hard to maintain that spark when you know there is no light at the end of the tunnel.

I really do think the internship in the large company would set me up better in the long term than the one I'm currently on. Anyone have the same issue? I would appreciate any advice!

    Acapella

I rang up about exact same situation, they said you can only do 9 months internship altogether, if you can get the other company to argee to give you 5 months internship, then you can do it in other company
