Power Steering Leak -- Merc 190

I have a power steering leak on my '86 Mercedes 190... its leaking from the steering box unit not the actual pump on the engine,

with it been a 2.3 16v its very compact and not a job that I can take on so I've been putting it off for a while.

the car is a project and I only do a couple of miles a week but I'm putting it back on the road in Jan/Feb

I've been topping it up with oil every couple of months (half cup full) but I'm wondering if its okay to continue doing this until the new year.. or could I do harm, thanks
