Got a 2nd hand sky hd+ box at the weekend and got a local satellite engineer to add a 2nd line so I could record, the house has multiroom set up with sky and the other box is also a sky hd+ one, this one is getting a signal on both inputs.

Do I need to inform sky of the 2nd box with two lines or is it that the engineer might have done something wrong

    Frank

If you changed the box you will need to contact Sky to have the card paired with it.

I think you only need to do that to clear the Pay channels... I.E. Sports/Movies.

It should clear the Basic channels without the need for pairing.

OP...Switch the boxes around..If the HD+ one loses the second input from that new line,,,then it's the feed is the problem.

There's also a small chance that you bought a box with a problem.

    What about RTE, TV3 etc?

    Ahh jaesus..You got Me there..:o

I presume as they are on the basic pack though,,they should clear..

When I mean basic,I mean the €25/€33 a month pack...I'm not sure you can get a pack below the €25 a month...Other than the €10 just for the recording ETC..

I dont know myself either but I cant really see Sky allowing the "home channels" to be viewed on what is basically a freesat box until such time as they are notified of it (card pairing).

I'm not 100% on it Myself either..But,,while it maybe a freesat box,,your still paying the sub on the card.

On the other hand, your not supposed to use a sky card in any other box,,other than a sky box.

Was just about to ask a similar question. I'm giving my friend a sky+hd box. He doesn't have premium channels just basic package. Will the box record ok? Or do sky need to do something?

I just done some checking there now,,and according to Tvtrade.ie you will need to have the card paired to enable the record, pause ETC functions...
