Cost of AI

    Just wondering on cost of AI.

    My AI charged €35 for all in this year (AI straw and his fee).

    Say If I pre-bought a straw in advance for €10 and it was delivered to him so I could use when I want next year, would that mean he could only charge me €25.

    What I want to get at here is to see will these guys try to charge full whack of €35 regardless of buying straw in advance. Do these guys have different prices when you pre buy a straw in advance.

    Our lad charges €18 to stick in a straw (it was €15 for a long time), so for pre-ordered straws it works out at the price of the straw + €18.

    Great info, what part of the country are you ? Tried to buy straws to send to my AI man but it was a poor reception I got:rolleyes:

    Just wondering on what you say here red bull. Is it that your AI man wasn't pleased you pre-ordered straws or that the AI company wasn't keen. I deal with Progressive Genetics. At first they say oh your AI man should have those straws and then I just told I wanted to have them for use in the future and they ok then.

    My AI man works for particular ai company I wanted to order straws from another company he just wasnt keen

    my guy is with dovea but didnt mind me getting a few straws, munster send them into dovea for him..that said not sure what he will charge me for using my straws

    What sort of money would your guy charge you if you pre-bought straws from his company? Also if you pre-buy a batch of straws could it be a year or two down the line before u use them all and would they be just left in AI mans tank travelling around the country no bother till u need them.

    well i dont see any advantage to pre buying straws that he is carrying anyway unless its a particular bull whose straw have become limited, he carries the dovea bulls from their catalogue anyway so the only reason i would buy straw myself was if i wanted something other than dovea bulls..remember he has to keep all his own straws right as well so if he has your ones in his tank they wil be treated as well as his own if that what you mean

    Sure I get. Like with Progressive Genetics there is some pre-order bulls that he is unlikely to have so have to order in adavance just these. Haven't pre-ordered before but thinking of doing so that why I asked. thanks

    Go ahead and do it. It's a simple process and you can usually pay by card up front for the straws. Dont go mad ordering them, they tend to add up with time! I have some several years by now. The AI man has 2 tanks, the usual tank and a private tank in which he keeps all pre-ordered straws with your name on them. Make sure to tell him when you call to bring the private tank.

    Thanks Bizzum. Just a question on this say you had a repeat with one of your private straws, are you allowed on the repeat to pick a straw from his usual pot if u didn't want to use one of your private straws. See at the moment he charge €8 for a repeat from his tank.

    You can pick any straw you like as a repeat. I'm sure different AI men have different ways of doing this, so ya may ask your own lad how he is going to charge you.
