    Hi

My cousin has a Nikon D3200/3100 (not sure of exact model), it fell on the floor at the weekend. While the camera is still taking photographs they can no longer be viewed on the lcd BUT she can still view previous pictures on the lcd. I'm not sure if this is the extent of the damage or if there is more wrong with it but can anyone tell me if there is anywhere in Ireland that would look at it for her. It was bought from Simply Electronics (long story!!) who don't supply warranties and our local camera shop are not offering any help either as the camera wasn't purchased there. She bought a warranty from Simply Electronics which "warranty covers manufacturers defects in materials and workmanship for a period of 12 months".

I really do feel so sorry for her as the camera was a gift from her husband and, like myself, is just beginning to get into the photography scene and she has started a course and everything!

Can anyone offer any hope in this situation???

I hope she didn't actually 'buy' that warranty from simply electronics, a 2 year manufacturer warranty is standard with any electronic item bought in the EU. Unfortunately it won't cover damage when it occurs as above. You could contact the Nikon service centre and get a quote for repair. I'd be inclined to do that if it's still in manufacturer warranty, as they'll repair it and it'll still be in warranty IIRC (though could be wrong there ?) whereas if you get it repaired by a 3rd party you risk voiding the manufacturer warranty AFAIK.

Just to clarify - it's still taking pictures and you can view those images on the LCD with the Playback button?

If so, check that 'Menu/Playback/Image Review' is On.

thanks guys, i've passed on the info!

ozymandius - as far as i know, she can still take pictures but cannot view them, BUT can view previous pictures which are stored on the camera/memory card, strange one! I've passed on your info for her to check her camera!
