You could try: http://www.murrays.ie/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=7. Or maybe get in contact with your local health centre???

    Hope this helps?

Maybe you could cut the tops off "normal" socks? That band at the top tends to be the tightest part. Hope you find something.

I would recommend seeing a doctor if he hasn't already! Swollen legs and ankles can mean a number of things. I wouldn't put any old socks on them unless the doctor rules out a few issues.

I know Dargan's pharmacy in town supply proper medical stockings, but a doctor needs to measure the legs before you can get them. They are available on the medical card too, but only from that pharmacy (certainly in the Dublin area).

(I hope this isn't thought of as 'medical' advice!)

Your fine, he is attending a doctor, he needs socks for comfort to wear his shoes and warmth. Its just normal socks i want that are wide and loose fillting not compression socks or TEDS. No your fine i wont take it as medical advise, thanks for your reply and concern..

I will see if Dargans can recommend a shop or website for wider socks, thank you.

Have you tried diabetic socks ?They dont have the binding part at the top and are supposed to be stretchy.I looked this up for you and I saw people with the same problem recommending Dr Scholls brand as they seem to make very wide fitting diabetic socks. http://www.renfrosocks.com/product.aspx?zpid=3661

Debenhams have non-elasticated socks which should do the job.
