Hey guys - So basically I'm working 9am-1pm, 4 hours per day, 5 days per week in a small music store. I rarely take any holidays, mainly because any time I've asked for a few days off my boss has given me the typical "sur you're hardly ever here" response

I've done a bit of research and as far as I can tell I'd be entitled to 8% of my hours as holidays over the year, which would amount to 83 hours. This would equate to 20 days off, right (this seems like a lot of time off:))?

I'm just wondering is this excluding the 9 public holidays in the year? The store closes for a few days after stephens day as well so presumably this would come off my 20 days too?

I know there's probably a multitude of threads on this topic already but I'm wondering can anyone give me some advice specific to my situation as I'm finding it hard to get my head around all the info out there.

    Thanks in advance!

20 days off but 40h only and it does not include public holidays. Any days the store is closed would be taken from those 20 days yes.

Your holiday entitlement is 8% of the total hours you worked. Bank holidays are a separate entitlement. As far as bank holidays are concerned you are entitled to one fifth of your average day REGARDLESS of whether you work the bank holiday or not. In other words, if you work 30 hours per week, that equals a bank holiday entitlement of 6 hours normal rate pay even if you are not rostered to work that day. If you go to work on a bank holiday, you get your 6 hours plus whatever hours you worked. The rate of pay for hours actually worked on a bank holiday should be higher than your standard rate.
