    Hi guys,

I will be out sick for 7 weeks as a consequence of an operation and I will need to claim illness benefit. I have been on to citizens information and read everything on there. But does anyone here have any further advise or indeed an idea as to how long it takes for payments to come through?

    Thanks

Payments should come through fairly quickly once you submit MC1 and then continue to send in weekly certs. The first 3 days are not paid. You can either get paid by cheque or have it paid into a bank account. I would hazard a guess at 2 weeks waiting at the most once all forms are completed correctly and submitted.

First payment usually comes in the second week after you've applied.

Then if your on weekly certs, when you hand it in, you more or less get paid 2 days from handing it over.

I just claimed this last week for three weeks. I dropped the form in on a Friday and the money was in my bank account the next friday.
