    Hi ,

Aer Lingus have just announced their strike action for Monday 19th November between 10 and 12 am . Im flying Aer Lingus at 5pm that day to London with a 2 hr layover before catching a flight to Buenos Aires. I would imagine that I would get caught up in a knockon effect. Question being , is it a bit premature to try and make alternative arrangments . I dont want to find out in Dublin Airport on the day that there is an issue with my flight.
    Thanks for any advice

I'd be buying travel insurance today if I were you.

Assuming you've both bought your flights as one ticket then you'll be looked after if you miss your connecting flights. If you want to try changing your tickets to get an earlier flight, you should contact whoever your bought them from (travel agent or airline). The airline who issued the ticket (the long haul airline) will ultimately decide if a free change is allowed in the circumstances.

Just talked to travel agent who say BA will accomodate us on one of their flights from DUB to LHR earlier in the day if they think there might be a problem with the making the connection. Said it will be Free , but only if BA think there will be a problem with our Aer Lingus leg otherwise its €150 to change flights.
    Cheers Steve-O for the advice

I don't think buying insurance now would be covered as you know there is a possible claim situation.

I'll be flying on the 27th of December to the UK for a few days. I see in a lot of the policy wordings that I wouldn't be covered if strike action is public knowledge.

That's a fairly broad statement though. Does a strike need to be specifically called for those dates before they can say they wouldn't cover me? I can't seem to find any answer to it. I will probably have to ring a few companies tomorrow to see.
