    Hi there,
I have an outdoor firebird oil burner, about 10 years old that has started giving trouble. I cleaned it out after the summer, changed the nozzle, cleaned the baffles checked the lines and all was fine.
But about 2 weeks ago it began to stop and start repeatedly, it would burn for about 15 seconds and then stop burning for 3 seconds and then burn again. This would continue until the burner was up to temperature and then it would run properly. However it is burning for shorter lengths of time each day. its now down to a 3 second burn and then off and then burn again.
    Can anyone help ?
    Thanks

Try removing the snorkle (air intake hose) or leaving the door open.

    Cheers Billy,
Turns out it was worn threads on the fuel line where it connects to the burner and was leaking. Burner not getting enough fuel.
