Upright or digital piano for beginners? Also lessons needed!

We are looking to buy either an upright or digital piano for our kids.

They are both young and starting off but at the same time we don't want to spend a few hundred on a piece of crap and then in a couple of years spend more.

We were hoping not to spend more than €500-€600 at this time. We obviously want them to learn correctly so would a digital piano be just as good as a normal piano?

Not familiar with pianos at all myself  so any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Also, would anyone know of a good piano teacher that would come to our house to give lessons once a week (Dun Laoghaire area).

    Thanks.

I know that the London school of music who do the grade exams say a clavinova is good to grade 8.

advantages of a digital are smaller, lighter and not affected by humidity,& temperature so no tuning needed.

    ever!

an acoustic is just a purists dream though.......

we have both. the acoustic came free from Freegle.......

one thing to watch on a digital though. get a full sized keyboard. ours is 76 keys which we THOUGHT was good til our eldest was doing grade 4 and one of the pieces needed a really low note.

    it was off the bottom!

    88 keys is standard.
