I know that when you apply for grant you need to provide proof of address from Oct of previous year.

Would a letter from your letting agent saying you were living in house on specific date (I.e Oct 1st) be enough proof address for SUSI?

Also, proof of address since October 1st....can you provide a bank statement from November or does it have to be from before October?

    Thank you.

For proof of independent residence a letter from your letting agent will suffice, provided that it covers you for the period of October 1st 2011 to date.
If the letter just says you've been there since such and such but doesn't say you're still currently there it won't work on it's own. You'll have to get a second letter saying that you're still residing there at the moment.
