    It's not a daysul

It's not a UK import and spec is pretty poor
    Colour is boring

Ya spec is not great but not big on gadgets. was a lovely drive. I've had a 1.4 Toyota Corolla so it's a big leap for me.

Drive as many different cars as you can for perspective, even an avensis will feel amazing after a corolla.

Looks fairly bare, not even a multi-function steering wheel. Expensive too given it's petrol.

Offer of 18000 with trade in so as bare as it is I really like it.

check with your insurance, they might wont be happy see you jumpin from 1.4 to 1.8 turbo., also car is very expensive. it is good, that somebody has such money to spend these days on piece of metal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 133 ✭✭franktennis

I don't think it's expensive at all, I checked uk and with vrt is more expensive, low mileage, excellent make, lovely drive. that's all I was looking for. I'm happy with it and I have the money so it's no problem.

Don't take this personally but if you're dismissing any cons about the car then why ask the question? I can't figure out of the purpose of the post was to brag about your new potential purchase or to genuinely ask for advice.

€24k for a soon to be 3 year old petrol A4 is lunacy - it's worth nowhere near that, has a truely crap spec, looks rubbish with the pathetic excuse for alloy wheels on it and the wood trim is completely out of place unless it has proper leather etc to compliment it.

Best of luck if you do buy it however.

well, if id have so much money , i wouldnt spend on Audi A4 tbh. for that sort of money, would get diesel golf, nearly new one.

well, i think everyone has their rights spend money the way they want, but op need to realize, that after a year or two, that car wont cost even half of it, what it cost now, depreciation is unreal for those cars.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,820 ✭✭✭mailforkev

You seem to be looking for affirmation rather than advice, I'm not sure why you started this thread.

That is a terrible way to spend €24k, you would find something much nicer than an almost three year old povvo spec A4. Also, the only people impressed by someone owning an Audi A4 generally know nothing about cars.

At least you are willing to go for petrol, for that I applaud you. All the best.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭allybhoy

Agree with the above posters. The spec on that is truly awful and you will have a hard time selling it on as there are a good few second hand S Lines knocking around these days. A car that modern and pricey should have every mod con going. For example have a look at the interior of the new accord...

    Just one persons opinion.

Not too long ago €24K for a 160bhp A4 with low miles would have been something of a bargain, but the market for high CO2 petrols has collapsed. If you like the car and are not fazed by a big depreciation hit then go for it, but that price wants to be a lot nearer €20K so haggle hard.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

    Just one persons opinion.

And was opinion not asked for? Surely a major con of that car would be the very basic alloy wheels that are on the car and wooden trim that is not to the majority of the markets taste and quite un-popular as a result.

yep, and it'll be hard to sell on in the future,

I would much prefer that Honda Accord - leather seats, multi-function steering wheel, reversing camera....
The Audi does look a bit bare on the inside spec - wise: like a bottom of the range Jetta...

The Accord has built in GPS and cruise control - lovely car.

Diesel , over 50000 miles is a major neg for me. on the plus side the spec is very good but I'm not an extras man. Thanks for all the opinions.

Just remember OP, unless you are going to hang onto the car for a lifetime you should keep in mind what a future buyer of your car may want in a few years. Petrol and base spec will mean it will be very hard to sell, so your purchase price needs to reflect this.

I totally agree. I really like it. it is nice to get so many opinions before I commit. I will be driving this for at least 5 years like my pervious car so at resale I am well aware that the value will plummet passing it on.

I wouldnt go for a Petrol Audi, you wont see the colour of that money back if you decide to sell in lets say a year due to some unforseen circumstances with such a low spec car, the badge is about all its got going for it

If your a petrol toyota man, the newer avensis or even the new saloon corollas, if not maybe a honda accord

I personally dont like petrol german cars, i think if your considering petrol stay japanland

Have you checked out the cost of yearly road tax? Think it could be over a grand???

Product guide for the 2010 A4 attached, which gives all the tech data, standard spec and all the lovely options that weren't ticked on that car.

Looks like a base model with metallic and wood trim to me. Can't see any other extra's in the photos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭allybhoy

Im just showing you what you "should" expect for that kind of wonga and year. Thats not even a particularly cheap accord by the way. If you dont like Diesel thats fine, there are petrol options aswell. Just I had that model with that engine and its a lovely lovely motor with cheap road tax and will hold its value really well. I currently have an MSport E60 530D and the accord was just as nice to drive as it, but the BMW is not aswell spec'd.

Here's a 2litre petrol option, 1 year older than your Audi but nearly 10K CHEAPER!

Also, if you are keeping hold of the car for 5 years you will really get pisssed off with how basic it is after a short period of owning it.
Like that spec is extremely basic for cars 5-10 years ago, so in another 5 years it will be archaic.

Nice Honda but too many miles, my Toyota was very basic too but the fancy stuff never interested me and with this I know none of the extras come with it. not many Audi petrol in the south that I can afford.

    You called?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,865 ✭✭✭✭MuppetCheck

Private sale but very low miles. As with any private sale do your checks but it is a far superior spec to the one linked. Should be open to offers below asking price surely. Your Corolla should sell privately and this could well work out cheaper for you. Just an option anyway to show how much nicer a car is out there. 2010 A4 tfsi Sport

I fail to see how 55k miles is "too many" on a car almost 4 years old. I could show you a car with half that mileage that has had the nuts driven out of it. Mileage is not a very accurate indication of use, judging or dismissing a car just because of a number on an odometer is crazy.

Also people are just trying to point out that your trading a basic car and paying €18k to come up 4 years to another very basic and expensive car. But I think you made up your mind well before you started this thread which kind of makes it redundant, so best of luck with your new car.

Well I paid 17000 for my corolla in 2007 so I know I'm paying roughly the same for a better car. Suppose it is time is close thread as bought it today.
Thanks for the responses. Happy driving all.

You say you're not big on gadgets but felt the need to tell us about your iPhone in the first post.
It's a nice car but, for that money you should be able to get a better spec'ed car.

He can hook it up to his new Audi now too...oh wait, he can't. It doesn't have bluetooth.

If ever I have come across a case of quite literally paying for the 4 rings on the bonnet, this is it. I fail to see why the OP posted at all. Why would anyone ask for advice and then actively ignore it?

I also echo what everyone else said. Crazy money for a poverty-spec car. I get the distinct feeling that that Audi could have come without speakers or a radio and the OP would still have bought it. If I was going to be living with that car for the next 4-5 years, I wouldn't consider them 'extras', more 'essentials'.

Best of luck with it anyway. BTW you paid roughly €17000 + a 2006 Corolla.

Nor the interface to plug it in to that comes with the Concert Radio, which was one of the many options left unticked on that particular vehicle.
