    Hey guys,

My boyfriend was telling me that one of his truck drivers rang him yesterday about lunchtime, to say he was driving into dublin on the n4 around the lucan exit and saw a plane flying very very low overhead with an engine on fire?

Cant find anything on the news or any of the aviation accident websites about it, but the driver was saying that there was lots of people braking because it was so low so more than one person must have seen it, anyone hear anything about it?

    Thanks!

Given that it's near Weston airport. Most likely explanation would be either this:

    Or this:

The 'smoke' I'm told contains Lanolin. So good for the skin. If the smoke was white that's the explanation.

One the other hand, it is possible there was an aircraft with an engine problem heading into Weston. In that case it's most likely blackish smoke.

Unless it crashed there wouldn't be any reports.

Halloween being this week might also explain something.

Has the truck driver been to Specsavers. :D

Well a while back (well over 12 months ago) my missus got quite agitated over a DC-8 heading into Baldonnel, the smoke was pretty impressive coming from the #3 engine....to a casual watcher it would seem to be an engine fire.

I noticed as the Hercules was landing in Baldonnel tonight that the engine exhaust is quite smokey... I assume there's an approach from the North into Baldonnel that crosses the N4?

I assume this was the same C-130 that took off about 4pm today...... definitely a smoker but not too dramatic.
