Seiko Sumo

    Hey Guys

Lurking around here for a good while and just thought I would get some opinions before pulling the plug and ordering a blue sumo.

I was originally eyeing up a stowa but due to the long delivery time I thought I would go for this to keep me going and wait until the new year to look again at a marine or flieger.

Has anyone had any experience with ordering from Japan and any thoughts on the sumo itself?

    Thanks

Can personally recommend this guy http://www.seiyajapan.com/ as I'm sure many others could on here. You may need to email him before buying though as it's a Seiko.

It's a strange choice when it comes down to a Fleiger/Marine or a Sumo but you won't be disappointed, nobody ever is with Seiko they are always great value for money in every price bracket and the blue Sumos do look awesome.

I was thinking of buying from Higuchi.

Yeah I know it was a strange choice but just delaying the Stowa purchase and the sumo caught my eye.

Can't comment on where to buy one, but I did consider a Sumo as an upgrade to my 007. But the only thing stopping me is the bracelet. 20mm width is just too narrow IMO for such a hefty watch.
Why Seiko didn't put it on a 22mm bracelet is beyond me.
There are a few out there who have modded the Sumo to 22mm lug width. But I don't think I could do that!

Harold (yobokies) sells a very nice beads of rice bracelet and he will sell 20mm end pieces with a 22mm bracelet that match the Sumo, and this solves the size issue.

I have mine a couple of months, purchased from Higuchi and to me the bracelet is not as big an issue as I thought it would be. Sure 22mm would have been nice but it's a $60 fix if it bothers you that much.

Any pics of the 20mm end/22 bracelet?

I wonder if something similar could be done with an oyster bracelet...
Would definitely consider a Sumo then.

From what I understand yobokies has multiple combinations available for the Sumo. He is more than happy to let you choose 20mm lug ends for any of his 22mm bracelets.

had one myself and flipped it

where it is bigger than the 007 - its not huge, big hands but face is still small

    Great watch though...

The notch link in most oysters are around 9mm, the gap in the end links on the Sumo are 10.04mm. I gave it a try last night and the gap is very noticeable and I don't fancy using smaller washers to close the gap.

Another option if someone was prepared to use a straight end is the bracelet from the spork (SRP043) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KeXbLpWAl2c
