I think it should have been mandatory for all saorview boxes to come with scart leads because alot of people buying saorview boxes were likely to have crt tvs and alot of oaps dont have dvd players so they ended up thinking that their tv was "too Old" for saorview.

No, that would have put the price up.
also annoyed the many people with HDMI input sets, 1000s and 1000s sold only good for Freeview.

Over 1m non-MPEG4 flatscreen TVs with HDMI sockets have been sold, so including a scart lead with all STBs would have been an unnecessary additional expense for most of them. It makes more sense to include a HDMI lead.

People with flat screens are more likely to have sky or upc imho.

    You did a survey?

In any case the main issue is that it would needless add to cost.

No sense to include an HDMI either.

You can get them the euro stores. No way in 2012 should they be included.

You reckon the boxes don't need to be connected then? :)

    It adds to price.

People may have a lead, they will want HDMI or SCART. They may need a long one.

Every Euro bargain store and major supermarkets sell the cables. €2 to €8 for either. A good SCART RGB properly screened cable is about x5 cost (not same as Price) of an HDMI cable, which is barely more than screened Cat 5e. Decent SCART has 4 x video coax, 4 x audio coax and numerous other wires all in a common screen.
