right i'll make it as brief as possible for everyone...about 8 months ago traded our 08 kia proceed diesel for a late 07 focus 1.6tdci titanium estate,uk import fsh etc, car is immaculate inside and out...beauty of a car but heres the qaundry,
i do 1000km a week so i need reliability...since we owned the car the dpf has gone, the turbo has gone, split turbo pipes, electric seat motor burnt out, and now it looks like the egr valve is gone and the car is in limp mode.
it has cost us a bloody fortune so far and the goodness has completely gone out of...terrified driving it now as im thinking whats going to go next.
so the big question is do we keep it after spending the money on it(whoever gets it will have had all the major problems fixed in it touch wood) or do we trade up now while theres still some value in it..i dont mind even going back a year or two on the reg plate
any advice opinions would be great as its swirling round in my head for the last week

There will always be the odd bad egg and smaller turbo engined diesel cars tend to always present reliability issues (unless it's a 1.4 D4D)

If i were you i would sell up with all your receipts and FSH and buy a japanese or Korean car, 2 litre D4D are really cheap to tax on the new system too.

God im turning into my dad :(

haha i thought the same about the dad thing..im starting to think the way my dad thinks too

really thinking going back to vw which we always had or maybe going toyota with the d4d engines...just not a lot of money to stick with it at the moment and some of the trade in valuations are crazy..one guy wanted 4 k with mine for a 07 fabia diesel and another wanted 3.5 k with mine for a diesel corsa of the same year.
had the avensis, corolla, golf, golf plus and the touran in mind

Don't forget if you're doing 1000km a week that's 52k km / year. That's close on 3 times the national average so you're gonna incur more issues than the average driver.

Surely a private sale of the focus is the way to go? You'd be mad to trade it with those kinda quotes, why not stick it on donedeal for a few weeks and see what kinda interest you get?
