I saw on countryfile a few months ago the wagu is crossing well with Holstein heifers to produce a valuable bull calf instead of worthless Holstein ones

They look like supermodels - legs up to their ears.

There is a few pure bred herds up north .I was talking to a breeder at the UK farmers stand at the ploughing 2 years ago he said they born very small and red in colour and at about 2weeks of age they start getting that grey colour and the extreme muscle develops ....the British Bazadaise society has a good website

God they look nice animals. Very like the blondes in their makeup. Light in the bone and nicely muscled with high KO%.

Are blondes and these Bazadaises the future for beef?

I saw some Bazadaise in Scotland. To be honest I think they are very like piedmontese.

We're always looking for the next big thing as farmers, and indeed in life in general I suppose.
I'd like to see a few Bazadaises in the flesh. On the subject of Blondes, the few cows that we have with Blonde in them breed lovely stylish calves off the Charolais bull.
A good cow is a good cow of any breed.

Sorry OP for totally derailing this tread, but bizzum I'm very interested in this, do you find any probs with putting a CH on your Blondes? I wouldn't mind getting a blonde cow or two...

Where are ya gonna get them? buy or breed them?

Some of the BAX cows are in the picture thread. Most of them you'd be hard pressed to tell looking at them that there's BA in them. 3 are black, one is white and 2 are I suppose blonde colour. The 3 blacks are mature cows and all have had CH calves. Some biggish calves, some normal. Again we would put the CH on any cow she would have had a couple or more calves and a proven calving history(of sorts!).
I suppose with this type of continental cow carrying a CH you'd be trying your best to be there when they calve. It can go wrong handy enough.
Try a couple and see how you get on. I'm not foolish enough to think that BA is the only answer to getting a super cow but for us the ones with the bit of BA in them are breeding very well.

(We have some great cows off 2 very rare breeds too that throw good calves. Limousine and Charolais I think they're called!:D)

Be interesting to chance a pedigree bazadaise cow if you could get hold of one
