Right lads probably a stupid question!! I bought a 9.6v battery for my m4. The stock one was crap and the 8.4v that I got now has a loose connection easy fix though. What I want to know what will the 9.6v battery do to the aeg if anything. Will I get a better Rof or Fps or would it chew the gears or do any damage as its a lot more powerful of a batt.

You will get a higher rate of fire, I only use lipo's so I don't know much bout thems 9.6v battery but I'd imagine it's the same story as a lipo, higher the voltage the more your aeg works and subsequently wears quicker, possibly damaging it.

But having said that the next most common voltage up from a 7.4v lipo is 11.1v which is a significant jump in voltage.

Just as I thought I don't mind a bit of wear and tear its all part if the game I guess:D it wouldn't effect the Fps though no as I'm right on the limit now so obviously don't want to go over!!

I knew there'd be pros and cons to it. When it was stock and I went to 8.4 didn't really notice much but with the 9.6 it even kicks a little more. So was worried about tearing it to bits! I don't mind changing gearbox and stuff eventually it will have to be done either way:) cheers man.

Battery does not affect power - all it does is make the gearbox cycle faster.

What most people forget is that larger voltage batteries are not magic devices that decide on a whim whether to blow your gun to smitherines or not...they are what they are; higher powered battery packs. All they do is supply current to the motor. The motor dictates the demand for current, and as such higher speed/torque motors require more power (and take it).

Provided the gears are shimmed properly, the gearbox shell is radiused and your AOE is spot on, then the larger battery (especially the 9.6v - I am talking more in relation to 11.1v lipo to be honest) won't do anything. Increased wear and tear is because the gun is firing more. That is all. A simple explanation is that if a gun lasts say 5,000 rds (gross over simplification) then which lasts longer, the one that fires at 17 BB/sec, or 35 BB/sec?

Going up from 8.4v to 9.6v which is an increase in voltage of approx 14% so in theory your ROF should also increase by the order of 14% all other things being equal

Your FPS should remain the same

Cheers lads so all that will be affected is the rate of fire. Great stuff so il just cycle more rounds through it and just keep what I'm doing untill something has to be changed. Which we all know will happen eventually anyway.
