recommend an 18 inch laptop with backlit keyboard?

Im looking to buy a new laptop, I work from home, so its a desktop replacement, hence the requirement for an 18 minch laptop, and I often work at night so a backlit keyboard would be useful, however, very few websites specifiy if their keyboards are backlit. Any ideas?

18" is a rather unusual and rare display size. The normal size for desktop replacements is 17.3", however, don't expect any 17" laptop with backlit keyboard selling for much less than 1,000 yoyos.

thanks Torqay but im afraid 2K is waaay out of my budget which is max 1K. The 18 inch bit - I woudl be happy with 17.3, I did not realise this was a standrad size, so 17.3 woudl be fine.
Do you know of any laptops of this size, at about 1K, with backlit keyboarads?

In the US, Dell is offering the Inspiron 17R Special Edition with an optional illuminated keyboard but apparently they wouldn't sell it to us at Dell.ie.

The Vortex III at PCSpecalist has a backlit keyboard, pricing starts at 900 Sterling. The cheapest 17" with backlit keyboard Saveonlaptops is a Sammy for 1,200 Sterling (they do have a 15" Sony for 550 Sterling)

It would be cheaper to get a good 14 or 15" for ~€700 and spend the rest on a nice flatscreen monitor (or use an existing one), plus maybe a laptop dock station / keyboard. You'll have a nicer work set up (2 screens or large flatscreen) and on the chance you ever want to move it a 15" is far more portable as it fits most laptop carrier bags, unlike 17"s.

After buying my 2nd laptop from saveonlaptops and it was DOA, after 19 days of emails, phone calls and eventually on getting a response after I liked there page on facebook and raising it as an issue on their public page, they have decided to make contact.
With regards price, they are cheapest around, with regards customer service and returns they are the worst I have ever encountered and I buy a couple of k euro of goods online each year.

The product will probably be dead on, if its not though be prepared for pain!!!

thanks, this lools liek a great laptop, but I dnot see anything about the keyboard being backlit, the website says the keyboad is Chiclet keyboard but no mention of it beig backlit, am I missing someing no the website?

According to this review, the keyboard is backlit. Not the exact same model, so I'm not 100% sure.

yeah this is problem Im finding, the websites for various laptops dont refer to it, so therefore Im ASSUMING that they do NOT have backlit keyboards....but maybe they do and are just not mentioning it on the website!
For example that asus is a lovely laptop and I would be keen on it.....if its backlit! But no reference to it on the website so again I have to presume its not.....

The keyboard is also backlit in white in dark environments
or blue in Gaming mode,

I checked with Komplett and they have confirmed that this laptop from asus is not backlit.Pity as it was top of my list....
