Cork in wine versus corked wine

I know that corked wine taints the wine but does it matter if bits of cork break when opening and fall into the wine?

I would have thought removing the bits would be fine or is it that the reason the bits fall off are due to the cork being damaged in the first place?

    Thanks

Could be just someone making an ar$e of opening the bottle.

Yes, just remove the cork from the wine. Any problems the wine might have will have nothing to do with the bits of cork.
