Assuming you have fitted cables and connector's correctly, have a clear line of sight to the satellite position and have the dish securely mounted, the next critical issues are dish alignment and LNB skew.

Dish alignment has a very tight tolerance - more than a few mm out and you will not receive a signal. The two critical parameters are the vertical and horizontal positions - if either is out, you will receive nothing. Your LNB also has to be positioned correctly - it is marked with a central position line that needs to be pointed at about ten past the hour (face and view your dish as a clock with 12hrs at the top). In Dublin the vertical alignment should be at 21.4 degrees with the horizontal position pointing at 139.5 degrees

If your issue is alignment, you need to google some instructions (eg youtube - sky dish alignment) and make very slight adjustments while trying to view a selected channel on a TV. Bear in mind that any changes you make to the dish position will take a few seconds to register on the TV. Set the vertical alignment correctly and then move the horizontal position very slightly and slowly. Check out dishpointer.com to see a visual representation for your exact location.

Time and patience is required, but take it slowly and you should get it sorted.
