Im midway through my orthodontist treatment, as part of the process I had get 4 large teeth removed at the back, I think they were the 2nd last teeth in each arch, the gaps in the upper arch have closed but theres still a bit of a gap in both sides of the lower arch.To close these arches I have to manually apply elastics from the furthest back strut in my upper arch to the furthest to the front strut in the lower arch on both sides. i am worries im not doing this right though because I have quite big hands and finding it dfficult to attach the elastic to strut on the back teeth, I usually just catch something back there and then stretch it to the strut on the lower arch, has anyone here had to do this, its a pain because I have to remove them when eating or brushing my teeth,I hope im doing it right

I've just finished using the elastics and had the same worries you have now. I would suggest using a tweezers or a dental hook if you can get your hands on one to help you put the elastics on and also pop back to your orthodontist and confirm with them that you're placing the elastics correctly.
The elastics are a pain but if you do it right the first time you can finish with them quicker!
