Wow, someone starts shopping early :D
I like estates and I like Volvo but the new v40 doesn't do it for me.

Take your time and test drive once or twice, you have time.

I had a good poke around one in my local dealership a couple of months back and quite liked it.

We've a Volvo at the moment so thought we might replace it with a V40 at some point. As long as you chose minimum SE spec with a couple of choice options you'd have a nice car. The salesman looked at me a bit funny when I said I'd be looking at petrol, I'd say 95% of them ordered here are the 1.6 diesel.

I'd have one over an A3 or BMW 1 in a heartbeat. I'm waiting to check out the new Merc A in the flesh too, looks like it might have potential.

The V40 is a hatchback similiar to an A3 Sportback.

Boot is not worthy of wearing the Volvo V badge, but if you are looking for a small hatch of around the size of the A3, then it's worth a look.

Driven a couple so far. The D3 (150ps) is pretty damn good, the D2 is adequate for the size. The ones that came in to us were launch demo's so loaded with goodies. Panoramic roof, Nav, illuminated gear stick, graphic display and the full aero pack (looks like the R-Design model that's just been launched).

Cracking looking car with the full works (except the strange aero alloys/wheel trims), haven't seen a standard model yet so no idea what they really look like in the flesh.

Handling is much better than the current A3. Front end bites like a hungry Rottweiler and as per usual the standard specification is higher than the competition.

Have a T3 coming in tomorrow for a quick spin before it goes back to Volvo. 150bhp from a 1.6 Petrol - hopefully it's a good as it sounds on paper.
