Windows key recovery

    I have a hard drive that will not boot into windows, it will run for maybe 10 mins when connected to my desktop. Also the laptop the hard drive is from will run with a live cd in the drive. I need to recover the windows key, the sticker is worn out as usual, any ideas please.
