I hope you helpful guys and gals wont mind another thread asking for recommendations about tablets but Im sort of clueless as there is so much variety out there.
    Im looking for

    • Tablet for mainly internet browsing
    • Apps for daily life (not necessarily gaming)
    • Maybe some sort of basic office type thing (not necessary but would like)
    • Good screen for watching movies, videos, photos
    • Able to connect to printer
    • Also Id love something that could connect to tv
    • Descent memory
    • Maybe something that I could use maps on if im abroad or lost :P

    • Also main priority is budget around 200euro, maybe could push it to 230ish but no more!

    Thanks in advance

What size screen are you looking for?

Im not overly fussy about screen size, it doesnt need to be too big

Maybe one of the Ainol 7 range would be suitable. Try searching for that on here; I think a few people have them.

Nexus 7... not sure it connects to TV or printer, but I'd imagine that that printers should work over bluetooth or wifi. The Asus Transformer can plug in to the TV or DVD player via USB or by a mini HDMI cable - a little over your budget though.

Can you tell me more about this Asus Transformer? Will it work on all tvs?

Something as simple as this can connect to a tv, or if you want to spend a bit more I'd recommend this.

    Thanks.

I like the look of that 2nd one Aristotle..... Do you know if it has some kind of gps thing on it for maps?

My advice is to stay away from any tablet that is not branded by a high-street brand. IMO go for ASUS, Google or Samsung. I would not consider any other brand in the android tablet market at the moment, even sony, levono or toshiba... The screen sensitivity is usually poor and the development is often lacking in making the software & hardware seamless...

I don't plug my transformer into the TV, I plug it into the DVD player via the USB charging cable that came with it. It acts in the same way as any other external storage such as a memory stick or SD card. There is a HDMI port, but I've never used it.

The Nexus tablets have the new version of Android that will be able to wirelessly mirror content to the TV screen with the aid of a dongle for the TV that should cost between €50 - €100. (Miracast)

All good tablets at the moment have DLNA, which allows you to play stuff from the tablet to the TV via a little box plugged into the TV - again about €60 - €100

I've had the tablet I quoted for months with no issues, and even my girlfriend uses it more than her Nexus 7 because of its hdmi and usb ports. Also Futeko have a fantastic customer service if anything goes wrong. But obviously the main reason is that it's less than half the price of the N7.

Yes I would agree that the transformer is definitely much better, but is also definitely more expensive.

Thanks, I'm not trying to belittle anyone else's purchase, and accept your personal experience with this tablet. My own experience has left me cold with other brands.

Totally agree, but you could say the same about the original stock of Nexus 7s and their screen issues. ;)

Personally I actually prefer the Nexus 7, as I'm all about the the best resolution screen, but I think the average person would prefer to save over €100 and have an ok screen and a lot of ports. :)

I think only the 3g version has gps but I might be wrong.

You can cache maps using the Maps app.

Im still browsing around and Im wondering can I get a tablet that has all the features that I need.
The Nexus 7 looks good but It doesnt have a hdmi connection and I would like that rather than messing around and buying lots of other pieces of equipment.
Some of the other ones dont have built in gps so a lot of the map apps wont work properly

Im still quite confused about it all

With a limited budget unfortunately you can't expect the world. Honestly the N7 is the best quality piece of kit you can get at that price point. If you want all the ports and such you'll have to cut back elsewhere such as importing a Chinese brand and dealing with lower quality parts.

The Acer a110 has HDMI for around the same price but the screen is nowhere near as good.

    Thanks guys,
I cant find the Acer a110 in Ireland anywhere.

Also any good deals on Nexus 7???? Im going to UK next week, if its any cheaper over there.

Anyone know if Kindle Fire hd available in Ireland?

If you're going to UK next week check the prices in Dixons in Dublin airport or the UK airports.
You can ask the staff in the Currys/PC World forum on Boards for pricing/availability on stock
for both Nexus 7 and Acer.

Also check Amazon for pricing/availability on the Acer.

Some of the new ainol novo could be the answer . The Venus has gps too which might be what your looking for priced at $149.
