    Is it a 1.0l?

How are you measuring how much petrol it is using?

have you dont an mpg test by brimming the tank to the max, resetting the trip clock, drive until lets say half the tank is empty, and the refill to the brim the tank...then using the amount of litres it took to refill, calculate your mpg using the distance you covered as per the trip clock.

This is the only real way you'll see what mpg you are getting.

    its less then a 1L

i'm going by the millage i'm doing. i'm getting less then 100 mile for 20 euro worth of petrol. i'm not getting stuck in any traffic plus not doing and short distance spins.

    thanks for the reply

You need to do what MidlandsM suggested and actually record the amount of litres you put in the car etc.

    That's 37mpg assuming €1.66 per litre.

i'm travelling 50 miles a day and i have to put 20 euro in every second day.

seems alot of petrol consumption for a small engine car.

Small engined cars can lead to false economy tbh, high 30's low 40's mpg is pretty standard

Does it seem low ( er) on power (I know it's a micra) , is it sounding odd or rough...
I had a 950 cc fiesta and 1 of the spark plug leads was wonky, went through loads of juice... (sometimes)

If it's doing 40 mpg there's probably nothing wrong with it, automatics and small engines do not make for good bedfellows (in either performance or especially fuel economy). But you really haven't any idea what the fuel economy is really like using the mythical 'miles to the euro' measurement considering that a euro's worth of petrol changes from day to day!

its doing about 25mpg if lucky

So you're getting 50 miles from €10 then? At €1.65/ltr that's just shy of 38mpg.

    You're fine.

    €20 = how many litres?

€20 @ €1.62 vs €20 @ €1.67 will get you a few extra miles for the same price!

Well that's your first mistake right there going on miles per euro. That will change constantly with the cost of fuel and therefore is of no value whatsoever as a measurement of economy.

The only way to check this is the way Midlands M has stated.

As said, you need to record it a while and compare to online records of Micra consumption. No other way will do.
Then factor in age, wear and your driving style.

Are you doing motorway runs? A 1l auto, a 4 speed if lucky, at motorway speeds would be drinking petrol like it's going out of fashion. Even sustained 100km/h runs will be thirsty, drop back to 80 and it'll improve a little.

Sitting in urban traffic at 50/60km/h is what the car is designed for.

    €20 @ €1.69 per litre

Well the formula is miles travelled divided by no. of gallons.

    4.54 litres in a gallon.

While many people are pointing out that your MPG figures might be fine, Many micra's can suffer poor fuel economy due to people never changing the fuel filters. These have to be changed at every second service but very rarely are. There are many 10, 12+ year old Micra's still going around with the original filters.

The oil in your auto box is also due to be changed at regular intervals.

    is that a big job?
