"Sold Secure Rating: Bronze" = casual theft deterrent.

It uses an 8mm shackle and weighs 1kg.

The Krytonite Mini uses a 13mm shackle, which equates to 2.6x more material to cut through, carries a Sold Secure silver rating, and weighs less (0.9Kg rather than 1kg).

Yeah thanks Lumen, I was a bit put off by bronze, the other one is silver.

"8mm case and through hardened chain
9mm Anti Cut Alloy steel shackle
    Weight: 1.8kg / 4lbs"

That is fecking heavy so I was wondering if that is a bit crap.

Is that this you are talking about? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/kryptonite-evolution-mini-5-flexframe-u-bracket-lock/
I want a Dlock like that for the front to lock it to the frame, but a longer more flexible one for the back wheel/frame to the stand and such, any suggestions?

At a quick look, something like this. http://www.wiggle.co.uk/abus-granit-steel-o-flex-1000-100cm-cable-bike-lock/
Something like that that is solver/gold rated i guess.

Yes, but that price isn't great.

Does this mean that you can't keep your pants up when the bike is locked? :)

Thanks Lumen, definitely picking up that lock when I'm ordering my bike/other stuff. Only concern is if it doesn't reach the stand at work and such. I can deal with that if it happens and pick up something longer, I'll have to take a look at how bikes are locked up in there. You would deem this lock/cable alone ok to lock up a bike? That cable seems a handy job for a bolt cutter to get the front wheel, although I've read some cables are actually harder to cut than chains. That's quite a reasonable price. I expected I had to pay for a dear lock for both front and back.

So you lock that cable kinda like this on the right? Whilst putting the lock around the wheel and through the back triangle.

    Or like this?

Front wheel has a quick release but back wheels are more expensive hmm.

Luckily Civilian I just sit around after I get to work :p

    My preference..

    D-Lock - Frame + rear wheel
Kryptonite cable - Frame + seat (depends what bike)
Chain - Frame + front wheel

I put a motorbike disc lock on my crankset aswel sometimes! If they can get the bike through that then they deserve it

Yeah the dlock at the back through the wheel and back triangle sounds best. Just wondering was that cable good enough that comes with the krypto to secure the front wheel? If not What cable/chain would be a good choice? I dunno if anybody will want my saddle. I'm deffo picking up that lock for the back anyway.

Take a look at the Abus Bordo Granit X Plus
    http://www.bike-components.de/products/info/p21097_Faltschloss-Bordo-Granit-X-Plus-6500-.html
Gives you a good bit mor flexibility than a u lock
you can mount it instead of a bottlecage which I love, it hase the highest security rating from the abus line and a pretty cheap price.
