A lot of your neighbours around Whites Cross and in the upper parts of Newtownpark Ave. have aerials pointing north but they are all vertically polarized which means they're picking up Kilkeel and not Divis so probably in the same boat as you.

I would have a go, if you have decent equipment then you may indeed get Divis Freeview reception. It may take thirty mins or less and think of all the extra channels, five of which aren't available yet FTA on satellite.

would the distance to Divis and the amount of relatively big hills/ mountains in the way make this doable?

There's certainly reports of analog coming in pre-DSO, so by the way things have gone there's probably some scope for receiving it.

I've made an initial attempt (i.e. just changed polarity and had a guess at the location of Divis - no meter used at all - needle in a haystack stuff) and I've received some signal on 21 and 27, but the quality has been next to nothing (0-10%). The receiver has a good think about things on all the other channels but nothing picked up. I'm going to have another go when I get the time - but will have to be some weekend with all this summer time ending!

I'm guessing that its really at the fringe of reception during normal conditions, and at that fairly targeted equipment is required.

Over here in the brother in laws at the moment which is near Newcastle Co Dublin and he is receiving all the muxes from Divis using a Triax tsc 114 hooked up to a Triax Unix 100 with a variable gain masthead amp.

Good! Rather than the endless discussion about this on the reflector somebody has put their money where their mouth is and obtained satisfactory results. It doesn't surprise me as Dublin is further 'back' from the Mournes and as posted over on ukfree.tv by a local installer they are getting it in Finglas!
