Thought this was excellent. This season is the best since season 2 in my opinion. It's like the writers took on a lot of the criticism about Dexter's sloppiness and poor continuity and are delivering the goods.

Were we watching the same episode? I didn't think it was great at all, definitely the poorest episode of season seven so far. Kept waiting for something to happen, yet nothing did. Next weeks ep doesn't look fantastic either.

    Agreed.

Are those phone convos in prisons not recorded? Dexter incriminating himself yet again

Pretty sure the phones aren't tapped. Freedom of privacy and all that.

The blondie story is as dull as ditchwater and heavily reminding me of Lumen. (Jesus I hated Lumen!)

Not the last we've seen of Isaac either.

And that scene in the motel was truly awful. "You were my hero" - pass me the pukepot please

This one episode has wiped away the promise of the earlier 4 episodes. Was shaping up to be an amazing season but this was a poor effort.

Average episode IMO, very slow and a filler. However, I think next week is shaping up for a big one! :D

Why does every episode feel like a filler? It seems like its just all building up to a great finale like last season. I'd much rather consistency.

That blonde bird is just Lumen and Lila combined it seems so it should be interesting which way that goes, whether Dex kills her or falls in love.

And Deb cries far too much, I wish she would stop. Her crying face and voice combined make me want to punch my dog in the face.

I quite enjoyed this episode actually.

It has me wondering if Quinn is going to end up being the new Doakes, and get framed as the Bay Harbour Butcher, now that we know he’s getting money from the bad guys? With LaGuerta looking for a killer cop, its probably not too much of a stretch for her to pick up on one taking a payoff. Also, given Quinns previous investigations of Dexter I can imagine Dexter being quite happy to offer Quinn up to save himself. Alternatively, it could just blow back on Quinn if Batista finds out about the payoff and thinks Quinn was deliberately trying to brush off the idea that the suicide was anything other than a killers remorse.
Not the last we've seen of Isaac either.
Unless Isaac somehow gets out of prison this season, it could be a good plot device for if/when Dexter gets locked up to have a deadly nemesis there waiting for him.

Yes i'm wondering where this season will go other than Deb dealing with knowing the real dexter and trying to keep LaGuerta drom learning the truth. I thought Isaac would be his nemisis for the season but Dexter appears to have taken care of that (which i enjoyed the way he did it, even if it did backfire on him!) i thought the Lewis storyline also had more to run, with Dexter maybe being framed for his murder, but with him finding the blood on his boat and presumably cleaning it up that seems unlikely. Maybe the blond, but i don't think she is smart enough to last long around dexter, so maybe there will be no big baddy. Perhaps it will just focus on the reopened investigation and deb trying to keep dexter out of it. I hope Dexter doesn't frame Quinn or someone else to take the fall as that would be too similar to the Doakes story line.

As an aside was anyone else surprised when Deb laid out the photos of missing people that Dexter only claimed three as his kills? I thought there would have been more.

To me it's very obvious that Dexter is on course to finally being caught. This season and the next season are basically two parts of the same arc. I think the big clue is the title of the final episode of season 7 (if you want to know what it's called, please look it up).

Dexter getting caught is pretty much the only thing they can do in order to keep it going.

Yeah i realise the last two seasons are about him getting caught, just thought / hoped there would be something more to this season as well.

Just had a look and seen it's called
    ''surprise, mother****er''
. I'd imagine you're probably right. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see
everything finally click with La Guerta and for her to confront him, before his face drops, the screen fades to black
and we're left waiting impatiently for season 8 :)

Decent enough episode. I reckon Isaac will end up getting out of prison at some stage this series.

I enjoyed it. The cat and mouse with Isaac was fun. The fake answer machine message and the Colombian bar trick. There are more people involved but the idea he will meet Dex in prison is a good one.

There are so many loose ends adding up and I can't see Deb handling herself for long. Pulling faces in front of LaGuerta and such.

Loved Debs words in the hotel when she said:- "I didn't imagine this happening this way" (or words to that effect)

Very meh, but unfortunately that's what I've come to expect. It's a shame seeing a great show go downhill.

I know they think that they need to make things obvious, but Dexter's monologue explaining to the viewers why Isaac was after him seems a bit OTT.

Am I remembering correctly, or was he not already seriously suspicious of Dexter a few seasons ago, but just suddenly dropped it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,780 ✭✭✭JohnK

Yeah he was and hired an ex cop to follow Dexter but dropped it in the end since he was going out with Deb and Dexter covered for him when the ex cop was found murdered and his blood was on Quinns shoe. Probably wouldnt take much for him to start looking into Dexter again though so that could always happen this season.

Absolutely agree! Lumen did my head in!

Ah yes, I remember now. That story line ended pretty abruptly. I suppose they can't kill off everyone who suspects him.

I really don't get the consistent self-sabotage with the writers.

Issac, as far as I am concerned, is the most menacing and properly hardcore villain there has been. He has such amazing potential because he is as hard as nails and more than an equal match for Dexter but now he's in clink so I'm not sure how much he is going to feature in the rest of the Season. Shame considering that he is interesting and will hopefully be the one to destroy Dexter once and for all.

I've been a bit meh about Season Seven but I thought this particular episode was rubbish. The story with the blonde gardener is just a snorefest and I just want him to get on with killing La Guerta already and being exposed.
