Honestly you should just set yourself a goal of fitness for the next 6 months, which could be anything from running 30 mins 3 times per week. 10mins to a marathon in 6 months is achievable but it may not result in the best experience for you. There are plenty of short road races around the Christmas period (keep an eye on the events section), so targeting a 5k in 8 weeks time could be step 1 - 'google couch to 5k' then think about moving up to 10k 'google Hal Higdon novice or intermediate 10k' and aim for a Spring 10k.
From there re-access, you'll have 4 months consistent training behind and you'll know how likely a marathon will be for you. I still wouldn't jump straight into one, enjoy your new found fitness, run as many days per week as you can, enjoy some races to check your progress. There's always Dublin next year or even a spring marathon after that.
Start a log in the training logs section and you get plenty of advice and support.
