youtube slightly jerky

    Can others see the car not moving smoothly? Every half a second it looks like it's trying to catch up...

    Is it the source video that's to blame? I saw the same effect playing videos in vlc when vsync is on, in scenes where there's constant rate movement across a static background (e.g. the space scenes above Pandora in Avatar) (when vsync is off you get tearing) - I think a vlc upgrade fixed that problem.

    It looks jumpy during pans here too. Note that the opening/closing animation is smooth and the frame rate is 24 fps.

    Compare that to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xW9xYUcmtmg where the opening/closing animation looks jumpy but the main content is smooth and the frame rate is 25 fps. My guess is that they have opening/closing animation at 24 fps but the main content is at 25 fps and they tried to fix the jumpy animation problem by (badly) converting the main content to 24 fps. What they should do is get the animation rerendered at (or at least professinoally converted to) 25 fps to match the main content,
