Water heating from Gas boiler.

    Hi,

    I would like to know if its possible to heat our water from the gas burner that we have in the house, the central heating system is a vokera mynute 16e, would i need to upgrade this unit to heat the water tank also, what would i be looking price wise for the upgrade.

    No you would not have to upgrade the boiler to heat the hot water cylinder only. It is impossible to know without seeing the installation to be in a position to determine whether the system can be separated or not. Most systems can be but if the rads are teed off the primary flow and return before surfacing, then a new flow and return would have to be installed from the boiler to the hot press.

    Price will depend upon how many zones are required, wiring ease for thermostats, bonding upgrade back to fuse board, and a few other criteria. If the work meets the current building regs, you will be eligible for an SEAI grant if your home was built prior to 2008. If not it should have time and temperature control over each maximum 100m2 zone plus DHW anyhow.

    Does it not heat the hot tank as it is??
