What to do with my old Golf?

Hi all, I have what is probably a simple enough question for experts on here! I'm just wondering what to do with my knackered old 1998 mark IV golf, which I've grown so fed up with that I just want rid.

It needs a new throttle body, it stalls at idle revs, this can be intermittent, it can be fine for a week or two, then be a problem for weeks. A VW dealer has looked at this issue, and could not correct it through the diagnostics reset or cleaning out the throttle body. From the internet it seems to be a common problem.

Then this morning it wouldn't start at all, it got a new battery last month, it had gone dead as I only drive once or twice a week. It has its NCT test is in two weeks, I had planned on hoping on a miracle or seeing if it only failed on something small, last time it only failed on the handbrake adjustment.

So, I'm not investing any more money in it, and I'm looking on buy a decent used car sometime soon, but I'm guessing mine won't be taken as a trade in to a used dealer in its current state? Should it be scrapped? Sold as a repairable car?

A second hand dealer will be more than happy to take it as a trade in if you're handing him a wedge of cash with it. Don't sell it for €100 anyway it'd be worth more in scrap or parts.

Put it on donedeal for €400. You would be surprised how much money people are willing to part with for these old Golfs, even non-runners.
