Probally been done to death here but have a question about ( Booster/amplifier box). My current situation is I have aerial going into the digital booster 3 way box and then into combi box , the television is saorview then I have satelite cable going into combi box everything is working perfect but my question is why do you need the booster/amplifier box should the aerial not just run straight into the combi box? Cant get it to work at all without the booster/amplifier box.

Are you sure it,s not a power supply for a masthead amplifier that you are looking at, it,s hard to tell from that pic. Some power supplys have a couple of tv outlets. If you remove it then the masthead amp cant function or pass a signal.

A signal amplifier located close to the aerial on the aerial mast used to amplify a weak received signal before before it travels down the co-ax cable to the TV point. If the signal received is low it will fall below a certain threshold as it travel thru the cable and be too weak to be useful at the receiver. The power supply for a masthead amp will be located somewhere along the cable, even at the TV point, to power the masthead amp.

Note: it won't improve a bad received signal but will compensate for any losses thru the cable etc.

I'd say it's a power supply, as op mentions that it's three way, that would be feed in and two outputs.

Leaving the power supply out of the setup would not allow the amp to pass the signal, basically giving an open circuit in the cable

Ye that must be it there is one of these on my aerial outside , I suppose I wouldn't need one of these masthead amplifiers if I had a smaller neater aerial.

That depends an what the received signals are like at the aerial, generally a bigger hi gain aerial (to pull in more signal) might eliminate the requirement for a masthead amp but that will be for someone with proper signal meter on your roof to determine.
