SLX 4 port Amplifier

Hi. I have a 4 port amplifier in the attic distributing the sky signal around the house and have (had) the magic eyes working off this also.

The picture is crystal clear still on the TVs but the magic eyes aren't working.

I stuck a volt meter onto the coax going into the amplifier and it's reads 9 volts but when I test the output on the SLX I only get a reading of 8.7 volts.

Would a loss of .3 volts be enough to make the magic eyes stop working?

Would anyone else have the same type of amplifier and see if it reads 9 volts or 8.7 like mine.

    Thanks.

    Hi,
I don't believe the drop of 0.3v is significant. If none of you eyes are working then I would try fiddling around with the RF2connector at the rear of the Skybox. Also to verify the skybox itself is not the source of your problem take one of the eyes and plug it directly into the RF2 output at the back of the and verify that it works ok.

Hi there. I connected one of eyes to the coax that was plugged into the amplifier in the attic and the eye works fine so that rules out a dodgy RF2 outlet and the cable route to the attic. When the eye is connected to one of the four outlets it lights up fine but won't change the channels. Read since that removing all of the coax and the power from the amplifier might cause it to reset but it made no difference.

The amplifier seems to be the issue. Somehow it's blocking the IR signal back to the SKY box.

Yes it would appear to be the amp ok now that you have ruled out the box itself and cable from same to the amp. I have often had problems with eyes even with red led and full 9 v present. The infrared signal is very finicky at times and even a slight twiddle to a connector is enough to get it operating correctly again.
However with all the eyes not working in your case and the box etc ok it would appear to be the amp ok. Sorry I don't have any further suggestions.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll order a new amp and hopefully that will be the solution! I'll let you know.
