Hi, I have a 98' ford fiesta, 1.3. In the last week or so it is cutting out at low speeds, usually in second gear when I slow to stop at a junction or turn a corner. It's not doing this every time but often enough. It's scary when it happens because suddlenly I can't steer! :(
Any ideas what is causing this or how to fix it? Thanks!

Might be the egr valve. Take it off and clean it out with carb cleaner. Simple to do and practically free.

Sorry, it's not called the egr valve, can't think ATM but its the easily accessed valve/unit at the front of the engine. Can't think presently but it's a well known and common pushrods issue.

Idle speed control valve. Sorry about the brain fart.

Was the idle air control valve for me too. Carb cleaner works for most people (had to replace it in my case).

+1 to that, happened me and Nissan Doc had the solution within a few minutes of me posting.
Op just remember to depressurise the fuel system first. Activate the emergency fuel cutoff or take out the fuel pump fuse and start the car, car will cut out and you can start playing with valves. Hex screwdriver and 5 minutes for a complete novice (me).
