rte on my amiko shd8900

hi
looking for some help, i just connected my amiko alien shd8900 and am getting restricted channels. i dont get any Irish channels like rte tv3. all the channels like dave sky one etc are all locked.Is there a way that i can open these or have i got a worthless box.

The box is not worthless but it's just a FTA satellite receiver. You can't get the RTE channels on a fta receiver. Sounds like you need a combi box.

It says its a combi box, sorry that's what it was sold to me as

Its probably a combi box for FTA and Freeview which will get you the UK channels but not for Saorview though.

Should I be able to get the likes of Dave and the comedy channel on this box if not will it be possible to get them on it?

Only if you can pick up a UK aerial signal. Satellite Dave is pay TV

Its definately not a Combi-Box. Its a Linux-based HD satellite receiver. To get Irish Channels on it you will need to connect an Ethernet cable to your router (or a wifi bridge) and read up on cccam servers.

The sthd8820 is a combo box the shd8900 is satellite FTA.
