Print quality from scan

    Hello, my problem is when I scan something onto my computer hard drive and then print it out after editing it, the print quality deteriorates a lot, even though it looked perfect on the computer screen. When I make copies of the same material straight off the printer, the quality is perfect too. Something happens between scanning and printing back out off the computer. I'd appreciate any suggestions on solving this.
