    Hi all!

I have come from running, now on the bike to do triathlons.

Coming from running where there are plenty of "fun runs" 10km races all the time, I am wondering if there is an equivalent in cycling?

I know there are sportives which as far as I have found, there is no winner, its just a fun cycle to complete the course and race money and have a bit of banter.

Are there races similar to say the 10km fun run in Docklands, which while open to anyone, does have a race element to it, but those of all abilities can race?

Just curious, as now would love if I could do some of these along the way!

In my experience there is a competitive element to many sportives. While they are obviously not 'races', if you are in the front group you might find that the last 10-20k will get heated! Nearest thing you might get to a race, without racing. There's also club league racing, if you contact your local club they'll tell you more.

Wow that Tour of Louth looks like something to aim for next year!

    Any others like that?

Smaller sportives are usually better for getting out of your depth speed wise, they are also less stressful and feel safer IMO. Big Sportives like the ROK and WW200 have too many riders all starting at different times with differing abilities, so aren't great for charging around.

The Dromara CC is a another good one. Very hilly and bendy though. It has some great scenery and a burger van at the end .....and a bar.
