Outdoor boiler and black smoke!!

    Hi all,
    my Firebird Warmglow outdoor boiler is throwing out black smoke. It runs for about half a hour then started to put out this black smoke. Anyone any suggestions what might be wrong or is there anything i can do my self before i call in someone. I had it serviced in august.:mad:

    If its putting out black smoke there is a major problem.It could be lack of air problem wrong fuel pressure , nozzle. Was your service man Oftec reg or did he use a flue gas analyser and give you a print out
    Either get your service man to call back or look for a local Oftec reg service man

    thanks for that ya he is registered but got no print out of anything. My friend told me the burner might be gone. How would i know if it is gone.

    You won't you need test equipment .Have you run out of oil lately and someone bleed it they might have touched the pump pressure adjustment

    yes ran out of oil and i bleed it myself, can i rectify this my self :confused:

    Did you undo a screw on front of burner or was it a bolt
    Take a pic and post showing what you touched
    If it was the pressure screw it will need to be adjusted with test equipment

    Bad news is, you would need a pressure gauge, smoke pump and flue gas analyser to set it back up properly again.

    Funny you used a fuming face to point a finger at your serviceman, yet it would seem you have been fiddling with it!
