    Hello all,

A quick question if anyone could help I would be grateful if anyone could answer. I'm thinking about building a shed out the back of my house. I'm thinking blocks sand + cement finish in a rural setting.

What is the maximum size you can build a single story shed with flat roof in county kildare?

    Thanks,

    Sc024

Any size with planning permission provided there is a minimum of 25m2 open amenity space left.

25m2 internal floor area without planning permission subject to criteria shown here in class 3.

Thank you you for the reply.

Would a 20 foot shipping container count towards the 25 square metres?

As long as it is behind the house and not beside the house, yes, imo.

Just to jump on this thread for a bit, I want to build a shed about 35 m2 at the bottom of a garden against a boundary wall in estate. House is detached. That states 40m2 at first part then says 20 m2 for detached in subsection? I'm not sure which applies and does the 2m from boundary apply for a seperate building and not extension (like my shed)

    Thanks.

Dont be confused between Class1 and Class 3.

Class 3 exemptions apply to sheds so you will need planning permission for 35m2.

Thanks for all the replies folks, I have one further question, not sure if its a bit much to ask on here with out seeing actual site etc etc.

Would it be difficult to obtain planning for 40ft x 30ft shed flat roof

    Regards,

Not possible to say here without knowing your site details. Generally, if there is enough room and if there is a valid reason for having the shed a specific size then there should be no trouble with the planning application.
