Howdy guys. First time ever using or setting up a FTA dish/box and a little lost and confused.

Have moved into a house where there is a dish, and Coaxial cables coming into some of the rooms. Bought the above box the other day, have connected up the box to said cables (have tried a couple of the rooms), and box to TV using HDMI cable, gone through some of the menus, and in the basic settings its showing no signal beside the stations in the channel list.

Have looked in the expert settings, and found signal intensity of around 45%, and signal quality of around 5-7%. Could this mean that the dish has been knocked of alinement or an issue with some of the components on it, that I havn't put the connector/plug on the Coaxial cable correctly (one of them was missing this), or could it be something else.

    Thanks in advance.

Your defo not going to get a picture with those figures anyway.

Do check the cables, and connections again,,but it could seem that the dish is out of alignment...Or a faulty LNB.

I'd be checking the connectors first,,then checking the dish.

And make sure that the cable you're connecting to is actually going to the dish ...

Can I assume that as there is some kind of signal as above, that it is?

Have tried prepping the Coaxial cable again, does it make any difference if half the hair like copper wire weave was removed in the snipping off the outer black insulting sleave, as long as the remaining is pealed back and not in contact with the inner copper wire. Eg. snipped of about 20-25mm of the black insultation, and about half of that for the inner insulation, the remaining hair like wire is held back by the 'f' connection.

First time install may not have Satellite set to Astra 2 could be Hotbird.Change settings to Astra 2 or chose BBC 1 in channel list then check signal on that frequency, if still low reading dish may have to be reset.
