Hey, so apparently Pumps.ie shows that on rathgar road Esso sells fuel for 1.11 Euro for litre. How is that possible? If anyone lives there can somebody check it out please? So I don't waste time going there, I am looking good station to fuel up whole tank today, just looking for cheapest. Suggest a place around Dublin?

I suggest the nearest place to you, that is reasonably priced.

Chances are, if you have to travel even 10 mins further to make a saving of 0.04-0.05 per litre, it's not really worth your while imo. Too many people travel to save a few cent, when in fact they are spending the difference in the travel itself, on top of taking up more of their time.

Well I live in City centre, on gardiner street, so no petrol station any close, so I have choice anyways, there is a "Top" stations in city centre, but friends suggested they are not the top quality.

Not only are they spending what they are "saving" but they are also adding to wear and tear of the car.

There's an Esso on the Dublin road in Cork that's 99.9 if you wanna take a spin down to save a few bob

Maxol at Constitution Hill is usually the cheapest in town 163.9 on the 23rd according to pumps.ie

What? For petrol? Did you see it yourself or is it some error on pumps.ie?

I can't be 100% sure but I reckon this might be a mistake. I drove past an Esso around the Rathgar area last night and it was closed for refurbishment I think (i'm not too familiar with the area so not sure if its the same one?). I reckon 1.11 is probably the default figure entered if no price is available maybe?

Also, slightly off topic, drove past an Esso on Greentree's Road near Walkinstown last night that was also closed, either for refurbishment or being done up. Esso on Navan Rd was closed for a day or two last week as well.

That petrol station is currently closed for a few days for renovations, so I'd suggest that Pumps.ie has reverted to some old pricing.

not accepting the more expensive price is the only thing that is keeping the price rising slowly.

    Maybe LPG price?

Also noticed a welcome drop off in the price of unleaded in the last week or so.

Was typically around 169.9 up here, now most places selling it for 162.4-162.9.

    No shift in diesel though.

    It was a joke lads!

Some people would travel to the other side of the country for cheaper fuel! Even though it would cost a lot more

Don't believe everything you see on pumps.ie. It's only as accurate as the people who update it.

Got petrol in cork last night for 159.9.

Seems to be a rolling deep clean cycle on the Esso stations, local one was closed for a few days too. Its now an interesting shade of blue at night due to new lighting...

Birr always seems to have the lowest petrol prices in Ireland for some reason.

Does anyone else notice that most esso stations are almost dark inside? Feckin local one you'd need a torch to find your way around it...

It amazes me sometimes how hyped up people get about fuel falling by a few cent a litre, when I need petrol, I just stop at a filling station and buy it, I would never drive a distance to get cheaper fuel. If fuel fell by 5c a litre, filling the tank on the Alfa 156 which is near 65 litres would be about €3... If I were to buy €40 which is what I normally buy, that fall's to circa €1.50. Recession blah blah blah but €1.50 is really nothing tbh,,,,

Call me arrogant, but there's far more important things IMO to worry about than €1.50. Just eat one less bar of chocolate a week kinda thing.

    My 2c anyway....:pac:

Yes OP, its a not realistic reading 1.11 lol, petrol is now like 164.9 in most places. Garages wud be losing a fortune if petrol was dat price

It is possible they sold it at that price to empty the tanks to begin renovations.
